Brinda Lane-Pumphrey is a Colorado artist. Recently Brinda started a series that attempts to capture place and time. She thinks about landmarks, wildlife, flora, mood, colors, and her lived experiences that represent specific places. She then layers those images and colors creating a visual interpretation of the place. The images emerge and recede within the composition emphasizing the permanence of the landscape and the ephemeral nature of wildlife, fauna, and seasons. Brinda is currently working on a National Park series as well as paintings that represent other places and memories.
She exhibits regularly at 40 West Arts Gallery and has exhibited at Foothills Art Gallery, in the Summer Art Market at the Art Students League of Denver, and in other local galleries. Brinda paints intuitively, often exaggerating hues to establish the way places make her feel. She primarily paints images from personal encounters and particularly loves the unique colors and dramatic landscapes of the Southwestern United States. Her compositions are meant to bring the viewer into the landscape in an intimate way.
