I grew up in an artistic family. My father was a painter and commercial artist before joining his father in business. Both my sisters are fine artists. My oldest brother is an amazing photographer and a fine singer. My elder brother is a cellist and an architect. I was merely an athlete. I always envied their total absorption and the private, creative spaces they seemed to enter when at work. When I retired in 2017, I decided to try my hand at painting. I knew some of my limitations: a not too steady hand, lack of training, red-green colorblind, difficulty with proportion and perspective. But I knew what I liked when I looked at it. Painting is hard labor for me. I am always astonished and delighted when something appears on the canvas that resembles the image I have in my heart.
