Bernadette is a self-taught painter, intrigued by exploring the properties of light and texture using oils and acrylics. A published writer, Bernadette strives to communicate feelings and emotions through visual and language media.
Bernadette has been a writer practically all her life, and has been painting as a professional visual artist since 2000. Bernadette says, 'Two-dimensional work is an exciting and completely natural step in finding another outlet for my creativity. The canvas and the paint become another way to connect with people, visually and emotionally... I am blessed and rewarded each time someone tells me that I have given them a new perspective on the beauty and complexity of things in our world.
'I begin by noticing beauty in the form, light and depth of objects, scenes, people or the environment. My painting is an effort to communicate what I feel, bringing the viewer with me to a place where we share the same moment--either of appreciation or awareness.'
Bernadette's art is in many collections, and this includes art collections in California, across the United States and recently, internationally.
Bernadette resides in Northern California, drawing inspiration from many things, including her garden of irises, roses, and lavender, music, her dreams, her family and friends, and the intricacies with which she sees the things around us.
Bernadette is completing her first novel and has written several children's books that are in various stages of the publishing process. She is a contributing author to Collective Wisdom: Powerful Stories and Practical Advice for Achieving Success, Inward Journey Press, 2009.
