Art the Artist Mission statement: My passion and purpose is to create art and use my artwork for the enlightening of social and spiritual consciousness. My artwork is a part of my story. What i mean is I will paint in word form, in different situations, or of other people's faces or actions. Like I said, I tend to draw out 'words' in an abstract or different style letters and express my message that way. I also paint out 'situations' depicting a certain time in history, and I love to paint portraits of 'people', either famous or not yet famous, but they usually stand for something important in my life or they changed the world for the better. I hope my art has a positive impact and helps move others to action. I want to change peoples lives by teaching, mentoring, and being a positive example. I realize when I am painting that through my artwork I can do that also. My art can teach others, and my art can represent my words. My word is my bond. My art is also my bond. My desire is to be a great artist, but more importantly a great person.
A little about Art the Artist
Art the Artist was born Arthur Francis Abdon, in Honolulu, Hawaii. I have had this God-given talent of knowing how to draw at an early age. I grew up fascinated by the visuals in movies from 'Star Wars' to 'Beat Street'. I also learned at an early age that I was partially colorblind, why me? i dont know. I just knew that it didnt match and it didnt make any sense to me. For a long time, I just gave up colors and I only drew in black and white, and shaded in pencil. I was almost frightened to use Photoshop when it first came out. But I got over my fears and started using all the programs. Today I love to work in abstract colors, and mixed media, and some realism, with a little help from my family. I was influenced by all the great artists to try all medias of creativity at least once, so at least I know if I like to work in that style or not. I work mostly in acrylic paints, charcoals, pencil, inks, and digital art programs. I also spend some time in photography. I like to take pictures of cloudy skies, nature, designs of home decor, and models of women and men. Take a look at my art galleries and I hope you enjoy the many things I enjoy and look at.
