Terri Davis graduated from Ringling School of Art + Design in 1980 with a BFA in Interior Design And Space Planning. She has worked as an Interior Designer in the Tampa Bay and surrounding areas for the past four decades. In recent years Terri has honed her skills as a fine artist and continues to grow in that direction. Her training combined with an intuitive use of color, line and form as a designer has facilitated her natural progression to canvas as an artist.
'I believe art is the most personal expression in our living spaces.
The creation and enjoyment of art draws out of us positive emotions that are healing, both in the process and in the experience. Painting with layers of acrylic colors opens up a world of awe for me. Since a very early age, I have been highly sensitive to color and the effect it had on me. Exploring the depth created by layers of translucent color has deepened that relationship. Now when I paint, it is like a journey where I travel to places unseen and explore imaginations that bring me joy.
I am often inspired by visions that are revealed to me as I listen to classical music. I am very much influenced by God's Artistry and like to interpret that in new and unexpected ways. As I manipulate colors on the canvas, I remain open to where the journey may lead me. A culmination of life experiences begins to rise to the surface propelling me forward to the next great revelation. This process of painting has become a type of worship for me which often reflects a spiritual overtone in my work. There is a sense of discovery that continues even after a piece is completed and new meanings evolve for myself as well as others who enjoy my work. This is why I paint.
