Mitch Lyman was born and raised in the heart of the Midwest U.S. He developed an interest in art at a very young age and early in his life did pen and ink art for a popular sporting magazine. Mitch took a long hiatus from art to finish college and graduate school, build a career and raise a family. Although not actively creating art himself, during this period he spent free time admiring the works of many accomplished wildlife, abstract and landscape artists. As his children aged and became more independent Mitch decided to pick up acrylic paints and set out to teach himself to paint.
Many hours outdoors influenced his art and the subjects he selects - from wildlife to landscapes. As a hobbyist painter Mitch has freedom to select subjects that move him. He strives to be highly realistic and pays special attention to his use of negative space. However, Mitch keeps his brush work loose, compositions simple and allows the painting to create itself.
Mitch hopes that you enjoy his artwork as much as he enjoyed creating it.
