I am a Photojournalist, Writer & a Technology Consultant based in Bangalore, India.
The road leading to this juncture has been interesting. Primarily because photography hitchhiked a ride with me a decade ago, as I traveled to parts of the world during the days of my corporate profession (have more than a decade of IT experience as a Technology Consultant and Architect). After getting a taste of looking at the world, ‘through a viewfinder’, I have pursued it and photography has remained with me, eversince. It has evolved from being a hobby to a passion to a profession.
As a Photojournalist:
Having been a photographer for more than a decade, I use Canon equipment predominantly - and my interest lies in People & Expressions, Travel & Lifestyle, Festivals & Culture, Art & Artists, Landscapes, Heritage & Monuments and Home Decor & Interiors. My features are published in Indian National Dailies, leading Travel Magazines, In-flight Magazines, Online Journals and Publishing Houses. Recently, I have become a Getty Images contributor.
As a Photography Instructor:
I teach Photography for enthusiasts and children at school. I conduct photography workshops frequently, in Bangalore, in Corporates and in an International school. Workshops I conduct span categories such as, Genre (theory plus practical) based, Experiential (practical based) photo trips and customized 1x1 coaching. As a practicing photographer, I showcase my work at different exhibitions and get invited to put up my work, as well. I have had the nice experience of judging few photography contests & am one among the PRO Travel photographers to critique for Amateurs for GuruShots.com
As a Writer:
I have cherished writing longer than photography. Having written enough personal diaries, I decided to go public six years ago! Today I write travel and technology articles about my unique experiences on less-heard-of places in leading dailies, magazines including National Geographic Traveler, blogs and travel sites. I have written on several varied subjects, be it travel, general or technology related articles. Having authored my first e-Book - a Travel cum Expat Guide on the ‘Splendor of Mysore’ (also available on Amazon Kindle), I will be bringing out more e-books.
Recent Accomplishments include:
- Regular Contributor for licensing images with Getty Images (Stock Agency) and Shutterstock
- Shortlisted in the Top 35 of the 2011 (worldwide) Travel Scholarships conducted by National Geographic and World Nomads
- Edinburgh International Festival 2011 chose an image as a representation for Rajasthani culture, for their brouchures, pamphlets and
website. Currently seen on National Museums Scotland website
- Image featured in the 2010-11 Canon Edge yearly calendar on the theme of ‘Children & Celebrations’
- Govt of India sponsored coffee table book, ‘India for a Billion Reasons’ features my selected pictures
- Featured as the 'Woman Achiever Photographer' by the Kannada Daily, 'Kannada Prabha'
