Born in 1945, I began studying Typeface Design in 1966 at the University of Applied Arts in Vienna/Austria. At that time I bought my first Nikon F.
During my studies I joined an advertising agency as an Account Director for Austrian Airlines and some other smaller customers. Besides that I finished my studies at the University with an academic degree.
After the job at the agency I took an other one at another ad-agency as an Art Director, mainly for detergents of Unilever. I had no idea how boring this job would turn out to be.
I left to become General Manager of a small and private owned ad-agency with some good and important customers like SEIKO, Panasonic and Bang&Olufsen.
When BiC Company offered me a job as Marketing Director, I took this opportunity and joined the world's biggest ballpen company. There I led the campaign for the BiC Lighter, the BiC Pantyhose and the BiC Razor as new products for the Austrian market. Austria was also the first country worldwide for using the BiC Razor.
I was made an offer to the Bertelsmann Group which I accepted. There I was responsible for the production and art direction of the complete Austrian catalog, for advertising and purchasing gifts and electronics.
Having worked for the Bertelsmann Group for several years I resigned to become a freelance Marketing Consultant.
After many successful years I decided to set up my own company. Together with a friend we founded various companies that functioned as Apple Computer Reseller, NeXT Computer Reseller, Hard- and Software Distributors for products from Adobe, Aldus, Altsys, Avid, Macromedia, Quark, RasterOps etc. Our main customers were the big Austrian newspapers and magazines and all the creative people who worked in the advertising and print business.
I enjoyed photography since my studies at the University and mainly used Nikon bodies. While working at the ad-agencies I sold many photos to our customers (for calendars, leaflets, posters and so on). When photography turned digital, I was one of the first in Austria, to frequently test frame grabber cards for video cameras. In order to cope with the rapid development, I aquired many different digital still cameras and analyzed their efficency.
At that time Kodak built the first professional digital SLR color camera, based on a modified Nikon F3 body and a huge external portable harddrive connected with a fingerthick cable, at the horrible price tag about $ 30.000.- with a resolution of 1,3 Megapixel.
Nikon was a bit late in this field and it took some years before I bought my first Digital Nikon DSLR body as a Fujifilm Finepix1. I owned numerous digital Fujis and Nikons. Presently I work with a Canon EOS 5DS, a SONY A7R II and a bunch of excellent lenses.
