I took the photo I used as reference for this painting when we first visited Yosemite, over thirty years ago. This was a perfect spot for the tour tram, and while everyone else was clicking away, I moved to an area where I could get tree limbs as a frame for the photo.
Thirty years later, we took the same valley tram tour, and I repeated my desire to frame the photo with leaves and tree branches. This time, we had family members to share the view with.
Of course, the view needed to be painted. After all, I am several states away, and don't get there often enough. Thirty years in between visits does seem excessive. :)
