Description
Horse Tail Fall glows at sunset for a few days in February when conditions are just right. There must be sufficient snow pack and temperatures above freezing so that the ephemeral waterfall is flowing. As sunset approaches, the illuminated face of El Capitan will grow smaller until the waterfall begins to glow as if a firefall.

this is just insane. Your photography is unreal. Great, great shot! How interesting the conditions truly have to be JUST right to create this effect. I wonder if it can happen at some point in October or early November as well - on a day the sun is in the same position in the sky as in February.
Greg Norrell replied:
Thanks Chance. Yes, it theoretically could happen in August, six months from when it happens in February, but the drainage area is only 10 acres so the waterfall is almost always dry in summer.
