An old weathered barn in the Vincent Community in the Lower Snoqualmie Valley, state of Washington, USA.

The Lower Snoqualmie Valley was, at one time, a very strong dairy producing area, full of family owned dairy farms. I'm not at all certain what exactly happened, but it is my understanding that some years back, there was a government program to buy up dairy herds in an effort to reduce an overabundance of milk on the market. Whatever the reason, today there are a very small number of dairy operations in the valley. Today, whatever farm operations there are, are smaller and more diverse. Some examples are: herb farms, organic produce farms, mushrooms, beef, fast growing trees for wood pulp.
