Wild Perigrine Falcon
Photograph - Epson Lustre Paper
We have a family of falcons living near us and they take flight every afternoon, providing almost impossible targets for the camera. I got lucky here with this one, who seemingly is looking down towards me. Able to achieve speeds upwards to 200mph on a dive, they are awesome. I once saw a flock of pigeons take off from the Chesapeake Bay Bridge, followed by a Perigrine. The falcon struck a pigeon, wheeled in a circle and grabbed it before it struck the water. All the time in what took to raise the camera and miss that whole thing. They are so fast.
