Description
Lush foliage of a Western Red Cedar tree, Thuja plicata, fills the entire frame in this two-tone color image with vignette. Captured in Stanley Park, Vancouver, B.C., Canada, in early fall.
Western red cedars, a needled evergreen commonly found in the northwestern United States and Canada, can grow to 50-60 feet in height (120-130 feet in the wild). Their spread ranges from 15 to 20 feet. They are slow-growing and shaped like a pyramid. Also called great western arborvitae, canoe cedar, pacific red cedar, shinglewood, and giant red cedar. Their foliage is glossy, green, scale-like, and aromatic.
This is the kind of image that one would never tire of looking at, and would be appropriate in all seasons. It conveys a sense of peace, tranquility, freshness, and calm, making it appropriate for any room of one’s home or office. Botanical background with no sky, no people. Standing beneath this gorgeous tree is an experience easily remembered. Like a mature oak, this is one powerful tree.
