Description
This dragonfly was holding on to the very tip of a dry stick. I think the way its body was up in the air, it looked like an extension of the stick as if it was in a yoga meditation pose to signify ‘We are One’.
I believe this is a Common Sanddragon dragonfly.
Common Sanddragon dragonflies (Progomphus obscurus) are usually found on streams, creeks and rivers. This one was seen about 2 blocks from a lake. They rest on rocks, logs and branches and are known to stick their hind bodies in the air to cool off on hot days. The adults eat flying insects and stay near water all their lives.
