Original watercolor painting, 'Purple Honeycreepers', by Lynn Cyrus / Cascade Colors. I saw these gorgeous birds while visiting the Kapawi Preserve, in the Amazon rainforest in southeastern Ecuador. The male has brilliant purple-blue and black iridescent plumage, and the female has lovely yellow and green tones, with delicate streaks below. I wanted to create an imaginative, whimsical flair in this piece, as I find the tropical rainforest to be a rather magical place, filled with a huge array of life.
