Description
Wangũ wa Makeri (1856–1915) was a Kikuyu tribal chief, known as a headman, during the British Colonial period in Kenya. She was the only female Kikuyu headman during that period…… So goes the factual story. I however marvel at the Story below more.
According to Kikuyu Folklore, Wangu wa Makeri wa a kikuyu Queen who was really powerful. She was a queen during a time when women in the kikuyu land had taken over from the men and were the rulers. So, the story goes, Wangu wa Makeri did not sit on an ordinary chair like other queens, she would rather sit on the backs of men. She would hold meetings and talk to people and address them as she sat on the back of a man on his hands and knees like a stool. How dope was that!!
The story goes on to say how oppressive the women were to the Kikuyu men those days. They would make them do all the chores and harass them to no end. These were the queens of old, the mighty matriarchs of this Kikuyu folklore. The men had no say but to do all things as commanded. Washing utensils, milking the cows, carrying the babies, cleaning the houses and homes, tilling the land and running errands for the Main queen and her queens!
I don’t know why people would want to believe the supposed factual story when the folklore is so detailed and visual! I have a feeling the story on the internet is a cover up by both black and white men to save face. (ha ha ha ha ha, shame on them)
The story goes on to say how men organized secretly to get all the women pregnant at the same time so that they can take over. If it was not for this “Brilliant” plan, Kikuyu men would still be running up and down doing stuff for the Queens up till today! Sometimes I just wonder if we still don’t. Just a thought.
