Description
Wallaby on the riverside was taken in Ausralia.
During my stay in Australia, I often had the opportunity to observe wild wallabies.
I find these animals just incredibly fascinating and cute.
I discoverd this one on the other side of the riverbank during an late afternoonwalk.
A Wallaby is a marsupial or pouched animal that is a member of the kangaroo family.
The name “wallaby” comes from the Eora Aboriginal people of Australia. It means black.
Wallabies are small to medium-sized marsupials. They are smaller than kangaroos and native to Australia, New Guinea, and Indonesia.
Wallabies have very strong tails and hind legs. The tails of wallabies are not prehensile, but are used for balance and support in a sitting position. The hind legs are used to hop at high speed and jump long distances. In combat, males use their hind legs to deliver powerful kicks.
Wallabies generally prefer more remote areas which are wooded or rugged rather than open arid plains that are more suited to larger, more flat footed kangaroos.
