As it turns out, the 300 or so photos we collected at the recent Orchid show has been a blessing, With the “couch” time that has been mandated I’ve had more than enough opportunity to “study” each picture, immediately tossing the obvious “failures”. I’ve even come up with a temporary “system” in the selection process with file folders neatly arranged alphabetically and by color.

I’ve also felt the need to change-up the backgrounds of a few recent pieces, which (again with respect to my “sedentary” edict) requires even MORE time than previous gloss-black.

For this piece, I chose to incorporate one petal from a flower previously disqualified (I never really toss ANY pictures, I just tag them as “unusable”) as the background. I felt there was a slight contrast to the flamboyant bottom petal of “the subject”. So, the way I look at it, for THIS piece, you get TWO flowers for the price of one!
