I captured this at a very old local car wash. I went into the bathroom of course which was unisex. This was on the wall. I thought it was cool. They said they had that up in there since the late 1940's to early 1950's.f you smoked back in the day, establishments would have had something like this to put out your cigarettes in. The way they work, is the bowl part of this was filled with sand, or something similar, and you stubbed out your butt in it. Then, to clean it out, the little metal piece with the holes was used to scoop out the butts, and then they could be easily thrown away! Under the box is a clip, and that is where the scoop is stored until the next use. What a handy idea!
