Gert, The ability to restore works that would to some extent be damaged or altered by conventional means is one of the great capabilities of digital processes. Yet it takes a skilled and discerning artist, like yourself, to bring life to works that have been damaged by the ravages of time back to life. You must find it very satisfying, not only to touch once again original artists vision but also to gain knowledge of their techniques and choices. Beautiful work!

Thank you Robert for your very encouraging and uplifting comment. I wish i could tell people what goes into a digital restoration and reproduction with these Old Masterpieces - it is like painting the artwork digitally all over again. Then and then only can the artwork be remastered by computer programs specially created for this job. If you feed the program rubbish your results will be garbage. If you try your utmost best to restore digitally the correct way you reap the benefits. The gap in between is blood, sweat and tears and hours of breaking point patience. I do this tough as it gives me enormous pleasure to see an restored artwork as it most probably looked when the original artist completed it. 5* for your comment and thanks once again. (Please see my restored artworks project of the paintings of THOMAS TABOR DOUGHTY. With kind regards. GJR
