Description
It’s mid-September in Shenandoah National Park, and while the forests are still mostly green, there are subtle hints of the approaching autumn. I captured a series of images (View from Mount Marshall No 1 through No 5) walking along a section of the Appalachian Trail, ascending Mount Marshall from the North Marshall trailhead along the park’s Skyline Drive, about 16 miles south of the north entrance at Front Royal, Virginia. Just before you reach the summit, there are two overlook points that provide sweeping vistas to the north and west. In this view, some of the greenery is touched with a bit of gold, and bright red berries on a mountain ash provide an additional little pop of color.
