View From Clingman's Dome Observation Tower 2
Photograph - Photography
When we first arrived at Clingman's Dome on 10/14/18, there were several rescue vehicles in the parking lot. We learned from another tourist that they were searching for a woman who was about 3 miles out on one of the hiking trails nearby that had a medical emergency. I hope they were able to find her and get her the medical help she needed quickly.
Clingmans Dome Tower was constructed in 1959 in the Smoky Mountains National Park. It is a 45 foot high observation tower with a sweeping 375 feet long ramp for visitors to reach the tower. The Tower is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and played a significant role in the architectural history of the National Park Service.
