Description
Viceroy butterflies are often mistaken for a monarch butterfly. The main difference that visually sets them apart is the Viceroy has a black bar that runs through the lower wings.
A touch of nature has a place in all of our lives. It brings a sense of peace and beauty to our homes. My goal is to bring nature to people who are unable to or can't find the time to get out and explore the natural world for themselves.

Thought this was a Monarch at first blush, amazing capture! Featured on "Groovy Butterflies" group!
Rebecca Brooks replied:
Thanks Anita. They are very similar.. But its that lower wing bar that tells the truth about the identity of this beauty.

Beautiful monarch capture...not easy to catch them with wings wide open! l/f
Rebecca Brooks replied:
Close Lisa.. But the fact is that this is a Viceroy Butterfly. Looks very similar to a monarch, but the monarch doesnt have the lower wing bars.
