The landscape of the Val d'Orcia in Tuscany Italy is characterized by open vistas of ploughed and sown land that stretch over low hills to the horizon. Clusters or rows of cypresses around farmhouses punctuate the land. Fog and haze give the scene a three dimensional look. The Val d’Orcia is protected as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
