Two Nations In Bw Silhouette
Photograph - Outdoor Bw Photo
A grove of western hemlock and other trees on the American side of the Strait of Juan de Fuca catch the vivid light of a golden sunset linking two nations, the USA and Canada, shown here in black and white. The tall western hemlock is Washington’s state tree, and very important for both lumber and paper pulp. Hemlocks typically live about 400 to 500 years, and these beautiful trees are well-established.
This spectacular view across the Strait of Juan de Fuca to Canada at sunset is also available in color. It has quite a different look, with emphasis on the golden sunset and the resulting orange backlighting on the trees. Technically the black-and-white version would be considered best, but you might want to check out the color version to compare the two. Keep in mind that photography is about capturing moments of light.
