Description
Tree Reaching to the Sun is a photograph captured looking up to a redwood tree reaching to the forest canopy at Muir Woods National Monument in Marin County, California.
Proclaimed a national monument in 1908 by Pres. Theodore Roosevelt, the land for Muir Woods was donated by Congressman William Kent (to avoid the canyon being used by a water company as a reservoir) and dedicated to naturalist John Muir, “the father of national parks.”
