In the background is the humpback bridge over the River Moriston, begun by the famous Scottish engineer Thomas Telford in 1805 and completed in 1813. Telford's bridge originally carried the main road between Inverness and Fort Augustus, but it was taken out of service in the 1930s when the present bridge was built.
