A hundred tones of green speak softly as a placid stream flows gently through the forest.

This is my favorite landscape photo I took in the spring of 2013 of Redwood Creek which flows through Muir Woods National Monument near Mill Valley, California a few miles north of San Francisco.

The lighting, foliage and reflections on the gently moving water blended together so beautifully. I digitally enhanced my original photo to convey a painterly quality.

Muir Woods is home to one of the last remaining strands of old-growth coastal redwoods in the world, with an average age of 700 years and a height of up to 258 feet.

The park was established in 1908, and in the year of its centennial (2008), it was listed as an historic district in the National Register of Historic Places.

I named this piece "Tranquility" because it illustrates the peaceful quietude of a sanctuary insulated from the busyness of everyday life. The majesty of the Creator is truly reflected in nature.

This is my very first piece of artwork uploaded to my portfolio at Fine Art America. My deep appreciation to fellow artists on FAA for their kind words and encouragement as I worked on this project.
