The Dorze people live in the Guge mountains near Arba Minch, in a cold and misty climate. They are famous for their beehive shaped houses and especially for their skills in cotton- weaving. The beehive shaped huts are constructed with woven bamboo. According to the inhabitants this structure can go as high as 12 meters and last up to eighty years. For insulating the roof of the house a thatch of false banana grass and the cover of the bamboo stem are used. Termites eat away at the edges close to the ground reducing the height of the house over time. Arba Minch, Ethiopia, East Africa.
