Description
This is a top view of the Texas Thistle flower which is a wild flower that grows in the meadows in Texas. This one was in a field meadow nearby me that I hike through quite often in Spring and Summer. I was able to get above this one and take this view of it which looks like a star burst of petals.
Texas Thistle (C. texanum) is one of at least ten types of thistle found in Texas. It is drought tolerant and grows in early summer. It is a good source of nectar for pollinator insects.
