This impressionistic colorful scene by Patty Donoghue is a tobacco field at the base of the landmark Pilot Mountain. This famous mountain contributed to the Andy Griffiths show location near Mayberry called Mount Pilot. It is passed as travelers climb up the mountain to Mount Airy the original location where the TV series was connected. As an arial landmark this knobbed mountain is known in the NC, Peidmont Triad. The area has been popular over time for its rich Tobacco fields and farms. Even now, driving through the back roads viewers notice the old rustic barns, usually not very large, where the tobacco leaves were dried before piling them up to take to market. In tribute to this riche history this original surreal and impressionistic painting was created.
