Description
The Tipton Place Homestead is a popular sight on the Cades Cove Loop Road within the Great Smoky Mountain National Park. It takes its name from the Revolutionary War veteran "Fighting Billy". He settled on the land via a Tennessee Land Grant program. There is a cabin on the land that was constructed by a relative and still stands today, however the Cantilever Barn is a replica built in 1968.

Beautiful scene, Jim! That curved split rail fence at the Tipton Place, beckons my eye and feet to take a closer look. I’ve been there many times but have not stopped to shoot from the angle you’ve chosen here. Well done!! Fave

The fence leads me right into the homestead area, where I would, indeed, like to spend a lot of time.
