Tip Of Two Lovers Leap
Artist

Description
A Guam folktale tells the story how two lovers who were not allowed to be together by society, so they tied their hair and leaped to their deaths from Puntas Dos Amantes, rather than be apart. However, the details of the story have changed over the years. It was recorded by French explorer Louis de Freycinet in 1819. In Freycinet's telling, a man of the high-caste matao fell in forbidden love with a woman of the lower-caste manachang. They wandered in the wilderness, eventually burying their infant in a stone cairn. In despair, they climbed to the top of a steep peak by the sea, tied their hair together, and, holding one another, jumped to their deaths.

Beautiful landscape. I was a baby when my parents lived on Guam so I don't remember anything of it. It's nice to hear about the folklore and see this incredible cliff.
Rose Elaine replied:
Hi Sharon, I lived on Guam for a total of 7 years, once as a child, and again as an adult. I met my husband there, had my first child on Guam, and I do believe it is one of the most beautiful places in the world!
