Tinguely Fountain2 Basel,
Tinguely Fountain, officially known as the Carnival Fountain, a.k.a. Jo Siffert fountain of Jean Tinguely. This is one of ten low-powered metal sculptures within the Tinguely Fountain.
The Tinguely Fountain was built in 1975-1977, and was a gift of Migros to the city of Basel. Did you know that this fountain stands on the site of the stage of the dismantled old city theater otherwise known as Theaterplatz.
There are many sculptures within this large fountain. Ten sculptures to be exact. These 10 sculptures are moved by motors and spray water jets through the air. The ten sculptures were constructed in part from pieces of the equipment of the old theater; various types of metal. Very cool and unique concept. Emmy Vickers,
