Description
Wyoming is littered with old cattle ranch mementos such as this old memoir. Take a ride down any old highway or dirt road and you're bound to see one, most likely in worse shape. At the beginning of the fall season, the underbrush is tall and the aspens are just beginning to turn. You may even see an oak or plum tree somewhere near with a deer nibbling on its fruit and leaves. After all, autumn is short in the Cowboy State and the snow is sure to fly. That's why these old rustic contraptions were necessary in their spots. To load up the cattle when they were brought down from the winter ranges and take them back to the ranch. Even if the ranch wouldn't necessary keep them away from the bitter cold and blizzards, at least it would keep them from the wolves and bears.
