The Water Tower Behind Fort Fincastle,
The Water Tower is found behind the famous landmark Fort Fincastle in Nassau, Bahamas. This view was taken from Fort Fincastle. The Water Tower was erected in 1928 for the purpose of maintaining water pressure on the island. Standing at 126 feet tall, The Water Tower is the tallest structure on Nassau, When hubby and I visited, this was not open to the public. We were told that there is a narrow winding staircase of 216 steps.
As you can tell from this scene, Fort Fincastle and The Water Tower are a famous and busy tourist stop. There is not a lot to see here, so it can easily be a 30 minute stop. After visiting the castle, you can then shop at the various vendor tents. Lots of variety and very cool items from souvenir memorabilia to artifacts for the home to clothing and jewelry. A must-see when in Nassau Bahamas. A piece of Nassau history. Emmy Vickers,
