The Purps Family Reunion Painting

Tampa, FL - United States

The original painting was sold at a fundraiser auction for the Centre for Women in Tampa, Florida in 2014. There are so many happenings in this painting, it feels to me like a diverse family reunion. In the upper right corner could very well be 88 year old Aunt Jenny, looking on at everyone, (with a raised eyebrow and her silent opinions). All manner of family gathered today - laughing and swirling in and out of conversations while catching up. Inspired by "The Purps at the Badger Stop," this same color pallet was insistent that it be used again. From about 12 feet away, several larger faces popped out at me too. Hidden images reveal themselves to me only after they’ve hit the canvas. My friend Nick sees a woman in the bottom half looking right at him, and he’s right! There are several bird heads, dolphins, eyes, and profiles of faces and humanoid figures. Diverse members of one universal family. Thanks and please enjoy!
