The Priests House Sissinghurst Castle
Painting - Soft Pastel On Board
This painting is another in my Sissinghurst Castle Gardens series. These famous and much-visited gardens were created in the 1930s by writers, Vita Sackville- West and her husband, Harold Nicolson. Both, in developing these gardens, were strongly influenced by Gertrude Jekyll and Edwin Lutyens.
Sadly, this view no longer exists, as the National Trust has decided to remove the garden and install a desert landscape. My feeling is that the history of the development of these gardens has been destroyed.
