"THE HUB" By Diann Fisher. You aren't a Tampanian if you do not know about, and haven't been to, the towns favorite dive bar, The HUB, in downtown Tampa, FL at the corner of North Franklin Street and East Polk. This bar is over 70 years young and still thriving. It's nostalgic and iconic. In the early 80's we spent Friday date nights as a large group roller skating from David Islands main street skate rental, over the bridge by Tampa General Hospital through downtown streets in Tampa, racing down empty parking garages and bar hopping...you guessed it... with a stop at The Hub before heading back to Davis Island to the airstrip and finally heading back to the rental shop somewhere around 2-3am. Must have been 15-25 in the group. What a blast and what a memory...Ahhh, those were the days!
