Description
This little Ruby Throated male Hummingbird is sampling the flower of the Texas prickly pear cactus. If you've ever been up close and personal with these cactus you are familiar with their large and numerous thorns. The prickly pear are common in Aransas County where I live and they provide food and shelter for many animals in our region.
This is a small and simple drawing with ink and watercolor pencil. The original is a 5"x7" on 140 lb. bond.
