Temple Of The Frescos

Description
Among the more spectacular buildings here at the Tulum ruins in Mexico is the Temple of the Frescoes that included a lower gallery and a smaller second story gallery. The Temple of the Frescoes was used as an observatory for tracking the movements of the sun. Niched figurines of the Maya diving god or Venus deity decorate the facade of the temple. This is part of my photographic art series.

You have captured the vibe of the place very well, in addition to the physical details, John. I feel as if I have gone hundreds of years into the past before the arrival of the Spanish.

Back to revisit an old favorite of mine! I love the classical architecture with the columns and the aged patina on the aged stone or mortar! I can just picture this with a dynamic and ethereal sky and see the proud and brilliant Mayan people passing by! Love it! Fave! L/F/FB/P!

Wow, John! I love this capture of some of Mexico's amazing ruins! I find it fascinating that this temple was used as an observatory to track the movements of the sun! I can just picture the sun rising and setting over this mystic looking structure and transforming the shading and coloring of this stone! Love it! L/F!
