Description
This is a 21st Century abstract photograph of the glass facade of the Ljubljana Supernova shopping mall. This simple red orange disk behind a frosted glass facade is the logo for the shopping mall. The address is Jurčkova cesta 223, 1000 Ljubljana, Slovenia. This shopping center, located in the middle of the Rudnik business district, was opened in 2009. With more than 60 shops and approximately 27,000 square meters of retail space, it is the largest shopping center in this area of the city.
Minimal Art emerged as a movement in the 1950s and continued through the Sixties and Seventies. It is a term used to describe paintings and sculpture that thrive on simplicity in both content and form, and seek to remove any sign of personal expressivity.
Minimalism or minimalist art can be seen as extending the abstract idea that art should have its own reality and not be an imitation of some other thing. We usually think of art as representing an aspect of the real world (a landscape, a person, or even a tin of soup!); or reflecting an experience such as an emotion or feeling. With minimalism, no attempt is made to represent an outside reality, the artist wants the viewer to respond only to what is in front of them.
