Godafoss waterfall in Iceland, the waterfall of the Gods! The water of the river Skjálfandafljót falls from a height of 12 metres over a width of 30 metres. An epic sunset on a breathtaking location. There are three vantage points from where you can enjoy this waterfall. This photo was taken from a deck on the East Bank. Godafoss is a very popular waterfall, easily accessible by car as part of Iceland's ring road. It is considered part of the Diamond Circle sightseeing route along with Dettifoss waterfall.
Godafoss is reached after a 45 minutes drive from Akureyri, the capital of the north. However we have chosen a settlement very close to this waterfall, which was a great decision, since we didn't have to wake early to enjoy a spectacular sunrise that happened the next morning.
You should definitely not miss this waterfall if you are driving around Iceland. Both East Bank and West Bank worth a stop to enjoy the view and take some photos!
