Sunrise Engulfment Mauna Kea

Description
Hiking to the very true summit of Mauna Kea, which is at the rim of the cinder cone, Pu'uwekia, I watched a drama of weather unfold below me. As the sun rose, so rose a line of anvil thunderheads, which I know as a pilot, can signal wild weather on the way. As they reach 30 to 40,000 feet, their tops flatten and begin to rapidly spread far horizontally from their bases. Strong winds, lightning and rain can rapidly follow.
As I watched this sunrise, within a space of 40 minutes, other clouds that had been far below my perch at 13,000 feet, were sucked up above me and formed an eye that was closing, soon to obscure the gold sunrise that was unfolding.
