Study For Crouching Nude
Artist
Francis Bacon
Medium
Painting - Oil On Canvas
Description
This is a reproduction of Francis Bacon's 1952 masterpiece, Study for Crouching Nude. It was first displayed at the Institute of Contemporary Arts in London in that year. Bacon was forty-two years old when he produced this oil on canvas which displays his typical use of abstracted figures set off in a geometrical shape reminiscent of a cage. He had become prominent eight years before and established a reputation for being an outspoken gay figure and living a life characterized by eating, drinking and gambling in Soho.
