Description
This old bridge is found in the mid-level of the Wailua Homesteads, spanning the Opaeka`a Stream on Kauai. I have heard the bridge came from Sweden in the late 1800s. With the way things rust in our tropical humidity, I'm surprised it has lasted so long. The side railings are made of perhaps ten feet tall beams. However, after more than 100 years, we now have a rust problem and the bridge is shored up until the powers-that-be-decide how to rebuild it. Still, many cars and trucks drive over it daily. And since it is a one-lane bridge, at times an unwary driver runs into the rails ends. If you hear someone talking about "the steel bridge" on Kauai, this is that same one and only.

Hawaii is so lush with greenery which you captured beautifully here. Arizona is the 'Ying' to Hawaii's 'Yang'. I'd love to visit Hawaii one day.
