Description
St. Patrick was an English young man that was captured and brought to Ireland as a slave. While there, he began to call upon the Lord Jesus and surrendered his life to him. After six years as a slave, the Lord told him in a vision that a ship was awaiting him and that he should escape. Patrick escaped to England and began to study for the priesthood. The Lord then called him to go back to Ireland as a missionary, where he ministered to the poor and proclaimed the gospel. Many druids became Christians as a result. Saint Patrick was a man of prayer, and was known to perform miracles in the power of the Holy Spirit. He used the 3 leaf clover, or shamrock, to explain the concept of the trinity. He is recognized as the patron saint of Ireland for his work of bringing Christianity to the Irish. The St. Patrick's breastplate is a prayer or declaration of faith attributed to him.
