St Joseph Catholic Church

As I left Wisconsin and headed back west I crossed the Mississippi again going back into Iowa. With no particular route in mind I just kept driving west. I ended up in a the small town of Elkader, Iowa. A quaint town with a massive Catholic Church. When I arrived in front of the church I was amazed at the clouds and the fall colors behind it. I took several image until the clouds moved away and the sky became blue again. The church was finished in 1898 at a cost of only $19,000 though the help of the townspeople. At that time the town was prospering and having a new church was the goal for everyone. In 1976 it was placed on the National Register of Historic Places.
