Splash Of Red, Mission Tejas State Park
Hailey E Herrera
Painting - Watercolor Batik
The painting features pineywoods and other plant life in El Camino Real. Red and yellow leaves spot mark the tall pines, suggesting autumn. Dark-green pine leaves turn to a sun-bleached green where touched by sunlight. The trail’s ruts and swales created by the tracks of carts and wagons are now covered with fall leaves, pine needles, and pine cones. The setting sun casts long autumn shadows. This peaceful scenery enables the viewer to glimpse traces of the past to a road once traveled by Texas heroes and other pioneers.
