Our Nation's Capital is so beautiful at night, especially when there are clouds in the sky. This photo was taken in haste as my family and I were rushing from the Thomas Jefferson Memorial back to our hotel. There was a very large thunderstorm, (yes in reality) heading east from Maryland. But I had to stop and take this photograph of the Washington National Monument. The monument was illuminated so perfectly and I could make out the fifty American Flags around its base. The flags were waving around because of the incoming storm. We did make it back to our hotel just as the lightening and thunder started. I just love Washington D.C and I cannot wait to go back!
